TONY: Whenever we had a ride into town or ride out of town there was supposed to be a certain order, you know. (laughs) It was supposed to be Michael coming in, then Eric, and then, you know, I was supposed to be 4th or 5th
DALE: The scene in Wagon Train where Eric and I are supposed to bust ass across this field and Eric’s behind me the whole time, and every time he’s ‘Dale, will you slow up?’ ‘Beavis won’t slow up.

TONY: Our daily makeup was just, like, someone coming up with a bag of dirt and going [makes sound effect of getting hit with bag] suh-woooosh!Mag7 Con Q&A transcriptions p.3 mag7daybook.dreamwidth.org/368390.html comments
Вот так та фраза настоящего ковбоя звучит дословно: ‘Damn, Barney Fife’d make a better goddamn cowboy than that son of a gun.’Mag7 Con Q&A transcriptions p.4 mag7daybook.dreamwidth.org/368720.html comments
TONY: You know what, though, who used to talk about that, is Michael Biehn. He used to say they call these kind of characters cowboys, but they’re not cowboys. That’s a specific kind of guy with a specific kind of job on a ranch. It wasn’t always a compliment. It was like if you were of a higher station in life or whatever, that was sort of referring to guys like a day labourer, or something like that. And he, I don’t know, this is part of the research he did for Tombstone, I guess, it's that a cowboy is a very specific thing. And you’re right, none of these seven guys are cowboys. They were just, they lived in that era so, of course, they rode a horse.
[fan interjects this is why Michael didn’t want to be called a cowboy]
[NOTE: several fans refer to the characters by the actor names]
TONY: He actually introduced that into the sсript, because he wanted to make a point of that. That’s him. He made a point of it.
[fan suggests appreciation for the actors making characters their own]
TONY: Well, it gives a person a chance to inject their personality in the character.
RICK: I called my mom and I’m like, ‘I got this great job on Magnificent Seven and I’m one of the seven guys.’ And she was like, ‘Honey, that’s awesome, but you can’t ride a horse.’ My mom is a very good horse rider, and I said, ‘Mom, could you just give me some pointers?’ And she said, ‘The main thing is that you’re playing a character, but you must convincingly be able to mount and dismount that horse, otherwise someone’s going to know right away.’
Mag7 Con Q&A transcriptions p.5 mag7daybook.dreamwidth.org/369101.html comments
TONY: And the only time that great camaraderie got dangerous was when we had a night shoot on Fridays.
[crowd and actors laughing]
TONY: Because we were all good until, I don’t know, about 1-2 o’clock in the morning. And if any booze was afoot, suddenly it kind of made its way out of that bottle. Because we got really, you know, hey, we’ve been here all week and it’s Friday 2 o’clock in the morning. I mean, let’s be real, people.
DALE: It’s so dark out here!
TONY: It’s so dark out here, who’s gonna know? So I know there was this one scene, we were all around a campfire, and dancing around a campfire and everything.
[fan suggests Tony is talking about Wagon Train]
DALE: Yeah. Yeah.
[fan suggests the alcohol explains a lot]
RICK: (laughs) I wish Eric Close was here, because I don’t know if you guys know but Eric is- when I first met Eric I didn’t quite know what to make of Eric. He seemed a little nice, but I remember one of the first scenes we were shooting in the Arizona pilot, and I was riding, and he sort of gave me this—I think every actor hates this; when an another actor gives you unsolicited direction…
TONY: (laughs)
RICK: He said, ‘Hey, you shouldn’t ride your horse this way, and you should look that way when the camera is…’ and I was like who the fuck is this guy?
[crowd laughs]
RICK: I didn’t know him. (laughs) I know he’s one of the guys, one of the seven, but you’d better not… I will put my foot in his ass, you know, if he crosses that line. But I ended up falling in love with Eric, he’s a great guy, and we’ve hung out, and he’s huge into gospel music. Very religious man, and we sat down one day and had coffee and talked about religion for probably three hours. It’s like all of us have these different personalities off camera, but on camera, on set we bonded as the seven.
I didn’t quite know what to make of Eric I ended up falling in love with Eric сразило наповал.
RICK I remember talking to Eric, and I was like, ‘Man, this is gonna be one of our best episodes.’
DAREN: It was a stunt where I’m drunk, it’s the middle of the night, I’m going after this Indian kid because, you know, all Indians are alike to me at that point, and Michael comes out, hero moment, and I charge him with a knife. And he sidesteps me, puts his leg out, and slams me as hard as he can on the ground. And I’d been doing my own little stuntwork getting hit by Dale and by Tony and by Eric and by Rick, and I’m like oh, it’s no problem. So Walter Scott loaded me up with all this safety gear and I was like, ‘Why do I need all this?’ And he’s like, ‘Trust me, you’re gonna need it.’ (laughs) Okay! So I had a backbrace and kneepads and shoulder pads all over my costume, and Michael says to me, ‘So, uh, how hard do you want me to do this?’ and I said, ‘Go ahead, hard as you want, no problem!’
[crowd groans]
DAREN: First mistake, rookie mistake.
[crowd laughs]
DAREN: So first take—boom—hits me down, no problem! I bounce back up, pads feel great. Like this is easy! Fourth or fifth take, I’m starting to feel it finally. (laughs) Again, we’re doing 5 or 6 different setups of this, and after the 25th take, now we’re in close-ups, I can barely move. I’m like, my back is so sore from Michael kicking my ass, and it took me two weeks, basically, trying to get myself back into shape after that. So I did get hurt doing the show, and it didn’t even end up in the show.

RICK: It’s kind of like the five stages of every actor’s career, right?... Who is Rick Worthy? Get me Rick Worthy. Get me a Rick Worthy type. Get me a younger Rick Worthy. And the fifth stage is: Who is Rick Worthy?P.S. Well, Pony was big and tall for a quarter horse but other breeds are much bigger. He was about 15.2 hands and extremely muscled. Believe me, my hips would tell me about it when I got off if I hadn't ridden him in a while. As for his height though, Peso was actually the tallest horse but much more headstrong and hard to ride. My hands ached for 3 days trying to hold him in when I rode him out at the Lilley's.
In "Penance" where JD grabs Mary, Andy tried to do that stunt several times and was wearing poor Milagro out because he wasn't getting it right. Jack reportedly grabbed Andy by the collar and hauled him off Milagro and told him to let his damned stunt double (Brian Brown) do his job.....LOL!
And Shawn Nash, another dear friend made through Mag 7, was Tony's stunt double. That scene where Ezra climbs up onto the Mariah Wagon......not Tony's butt.....that is all Shawn! © KET
Mag7 Con Q&A, pt
